May 2013 brings a late spring, with few trees in leaf yet. As Canfordians move between lessons, beyond them on Mountjoy the Prep Schools’ Under 10s Cricket Festival gets under way. No doubt some of the 110 pupils here for the day will come to Canford in due course, and some, perhaps, will be at the school as it approaches its centenary.

A reading group of Canford and Bourne Academy pupils in the school library. In 2007 Canford was asked by the Department for Education to sponsor the transformation of Kings High School, East Howe, into an academy school. Positive links have been forged between the two institutions and Canford’s Deputy Head, Richard Knott, is chairman of the Academy’s governors.
